Thanks Carolyn, yeah I think you hit the nail on the head when you said “it’s easy when you know what you’re doing.” I like our list. But it’s a lot of stuff for practitioners to feel competent and confident it.

In fact, that idea of “knowing what you’re doing” is one of the inspirations for this project. I wondered whether there’s something particular about the abstract nature of some IA that means it’s more given to doubt and uncertainty?

I’m wondering whether alongside the practice in the real world classroom we can jump start the reflective practice process by sharing our experiences and stories as individual practitioners.

I sometimes joke that if you ask an IA a question, they’re most likely to answer with “it depends.” My idea is to build up a set of stories and descriptions of the different things that “it” has depended on.
